So Happy For You Shoebox SWAP

Considering it was very close to whiteout conditions here most of the day today, I thought I would share a bright and cheery card with you.  This card was the Shoebox SWAP of one of my fellow demonstrator's and friends - Georgia Mitchell.    She used the bright and cheery colors of the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack from the Sale-A-Bration brochure  - Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Pacific Point.  In fact, her card is a CASE of the So Happy for You card on page 4 of the Sale-A-Bration brochure and it really is a pick-me-up type of card.

Remember that during Sale-A-Bration, you receive 1 Sale-A-Bration item free for each $50 in Stampin Up merchandise purchased.  There are new, exclusive and adorable sets available only during Sale-A-Bration and in addition to these new and exclusive items, Stampin Up has also made a selection of stamp sets from the Idea Book & Catalog available for selection as Sale-A-Bration rewards - you can see a listing of these sets on the inside back cover of the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

Sew Suite Shoebox SWAP

On February 3rd, I attended a Shoebox SWAP at my upline's studio.  For the Shoebox SWAP we were to design a card or project using either a Sale-A-Bration set or a set from the Occasions mini catalog.  Of course, due to my renewed interest in sewing, I knew right away that I would design a SWAP using items from the Sew Suite set of products from the Occasions mini.  The Sew Suite products can be found on pages 32 thru 37 of the Occasions mini.  I followed the color scheme in the Sweet Stitches DSP, and incorporated my favorite base card color - Crumb Cake - it just goes with everything and it's strong enough to stand up.

I stamped the sewing image from the Sew Suite stamp set (page 33) in Melon Mambo onto a circle I had cut with my Big Shot and the Circles #2 die.  I also stamped a portion of the sewing machine in Daffodil Delight and punched the circle out with a 1/4" circle punch and layered that onto the main image.  The greeting below the sewing machine is from the ever so versatile Teeny Tiny Wishes set available in the main IBC.  The scalloped layers of DSP were cut using the Tasteful Trims XL die which was in the Holiday mini and is still available.  The Melon Mambo piece was textured using the Square Lattice texture folder.  I stamped the measuring tape from the Sew Suite set onto Daffodil Delight and then cut it out with my paper snips.  The measuring tape piece made a great layer to cover the "seam" where the DSP and Melon Mambo layers met up.  The circle with the main image was then layered on top with dimensionals.

I also used this card for the Long Distance Swappers January SWAP where our theme was to use a set from the Occasions mini.  So this SWAP did double duty for me!

Valentine CASE

For the third and final project my January club made this Valentine card that I CASEd from Tami Black HERE.  I absolutely loved how she used the map paper from the Newsprint DSP with this sentiment from Word Play.  We actually made our card into a gate fold with the sentiment attached to a belly band and then used the ledger paper from the Newsprint DSP pack on the inside.  This is a great Valentine card for guys and I am going to give it to my hubby for Valentine's.

Supplies used on this card:
Stamp set(s):  Word Play
Paper:  Real Red, Newsprint DSP, Glitter paper (from Occasions mini)
Ink:  Basic Black
Other:  Decorative Label Punch, Real Red 1/8" Taffeta

Nature Walk

I have another share from January stamp club today.  For these cards we used the Nature Walk set and Botanical Gazette paper from the Occasions Mini.  I let the paper guide the color combo and thus we have Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Very Vanilla.  First we ran the Marina Mist layer through the Framed Tulips embossing folder available on page 28 of the Occassions Mini and attached that to our Early Espresso base card.  The next layer is a piece of the DSP from Botanical Gazette with the small bird print.  We then stamped the birdcage image from Nature Walk (page 27 of the mini) in Early Espresso on a square of Very Vanilla and distressed/sponged.  We punched slots on either side of the bird cage image and ran our taffeta ribbon through there and tied it with linen thread.  I thought I had Early Espresso taffeta and did not, so used retired Kraft taffeta on this card.  The ribbon was secured behind the Marina Mist embossed layer with snail.  We stamped the "it's the little things" greeting from The You're a Gem set (page 25 of the mini) onto a vintage tag and tied that to the taffeta ribbon, the tag is also secured with a dimensional to the card so that it doesn't "swing" too much.  Finally, we stamped greetings from Teeny Tiny Wishes - a most versatile set of greetings available in the Idea Book & Catalog on page 157 - onto Very Vanilla.  The greeting was punched out using the Word Window punch and adhered to an Early Espresso piece punched with the Modern Label punch.  The greeting was then adhered to the card with dimensionals.

I hope you enjoy today's share and stop by to visit again soon!

Clean and Simple with Build a Blossom

At our January club meeting, we played with the new Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petals Punch, both on page 12 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  This stamp set and punch make for quick and beautiful cards.  We used our bone folders to slightly curl each petal for texture, then to anchor our flower petals, we used a 1 1/4" circle punched out of the same color cardstock as the petals.  For the flower centers, we used the Fabric Designer Brads available as part of the Oh Sew Suite family of products in the Occasions mini.  These brads, available on page 36, are really nice and just the right size for using as a flower center with the Build a Blossom set.  The leaves were also punched out using the Blossom Petals Punch.  Quick, clean, simple, lovely.

Supplies used on these cards:
Stamp sets:  Build a Blossom, Curly Cute
Card stock:  Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi
Ink:  Regal Rose, Old Olive
Accessories:  Fabric Designer Brads
Tools:  Blossom Petals punch, 1 1/4" Circle punch, paper piercer, bone folder.
